MEET ZOE

Seven years ago, Zoe started reading the ingredient labels on her lotions, shampoos and makeup products. That’s when her whole world shifted.

She decided she wanted to make a change and begin living a healthier lifestyle, particularly when it came to what she put on her skin. Unable to find plant-based products she loved, she began creating skin care products of her own in her bedroom. Not long after, she started giving them away to friends and family, and soon realized she might have a business on her hands.

But the solopreneur road was a difficult one.

“At first I found it quite lonely, because it’s just me working on the business myself, and I was really seeking mentorship but didn’t really know where to look for it.”

When she stumbled across Start & Scale, she knew immediately that she’d found everything she’d been searching for.

When Zoe launched her business, Dry Oil Co., she had struggled to find packaging manufacturers and suppliers. Now, using the tips from Start & Scale as well as the helpful members of the Facebook group, she swiftly finds the suppliers, designers and manufacturers she needs to take her business to the next level.

She also leveraged what she learned in the modules on marketing to boost her social media followings and even landed her first retail stockist in a vegan beauty salon.

Zoe says she still regularly revisits the material she learned in the course through course reruns and is building a manual for herself that she plans to use when she brings on her first employees.

“The future feels very bright. I feel like I really have backed myself now and set myself in the right position that I can achieve whatever I want to achieve.”
