You did it. You built an ecommerce store. You chose a niche, developed a brand, picked a product, manufactured it, and the sales have started to come in.
You’re making money, and you couldn’t be happier.
But now that you’ve reached this initial level of success, you’re likely facing a new, bigger question: Now what?
If you find yourself in this very situation, or something along these lines, it should come as no surprise. This is a very tricky stage of ecommerce entrepreneurship that we’ve heard a lot about, often from the hundreds of students who have completed our flagship Start & Scale course.
All too often, a founder will start up an ecommerce store, start to get some impressive traction, but then sort of level out in their growth. Nothing wrong with that necessarily, but let’s be honest, most of us got into this game because we want to accomplish something bigger.
So how do you take things to the next level? How do you break into new markets and even new countries? How do you significantly increase your volume, your product line, and your profits?
The team at Foundr decided it was time to definitively answer these all-too-common questions about ecommerce.
We gathered five of the best ecommerce experts we could find, and with their guidance and teaching, developed the most in-depth course we could create for advanced ecommerce entrepreneurs like yourself.
And today, we’re officially opening the doors to it.
Introducing Ecommerce Masters
Becoming a successful ecommerce entrepreneur takes more than just picking a niche, getting the right product, and making some sales. Yes, all of that is critical in the early stages, but it’s not everything.
There’s so much more you need to do right once you realize that, as the saying goes, what got you here won’t get you there.
The most successful ecommerce entrepreneurs must be able to:
- Master Facebook ads
- Use email marketing to engage customers and generate sales
- Negotiate with manufacturers to improve your margins
- Perfect logistics and warehouse management
- Navigate the global manufacturing and shipping world
- Dominate influencer marketing
- Maximize product page conversions
This is not to say that you have to master all of these things. In most cases, you will excel at one or two, especially when your business is in its early stages. But you must have a basic understanding of each of these areas, so you can hire great people to fill in the gaps.
Since we launched Start & Scale in 2017, we’ve heard from a lot of our students that they are eager to take their stores to the next level. They’ve grown, but they can’t seem to break past that six-figure annual revenue plateau.
Unlike Start & Scale, which focuses on coming up with an idea and a brand, and building your store until it’s profitable, this course takes a much more in-depth approach to ecommerce, and understanding these advanced skills.
Because we’re tackling such a broad skill set, we decided to take a different approach than in any of our previous courses, this time relying on a different entrepreneur to teach each module. So we brought five seven- and eight-figure ecommerce entrepreneurs who have actually done what their module is teaching, multiple times.
They’re all teaching proven methods for ecommerce growth—no theory, no fluff—just stuff that actually works. It’s a step-by-step, practical, actionable course taught by people who have the results that you want.
This course will help you to grow your store and make more profit and revenue, while having some fun along the way.
Meet Your Instructors
Gretta van Riel
Instructor: Advanced Influencer Marketing
Gretta needs no introduction. She started her first globally successful startup, SkinnyMe Tea, at the age of 22 with only $24 in the bank. Her store won the Shopify Build a Business competition in 2013 and went on to sell over 11 million cups of tea worldwide.
Eventually, Gretta co-created The 5th Watches, which famously pulled in $1 million in a single day of sales. If this weren’t enough, she then launched the brands Drop Bottle, Skintox Co., as well as an influencer marketing platform called Hey Influencers, which has helped link over 8,000 social media influencers to brands.
Gretta is also the instructor of our flagship course, Start & Scale, which has been responsible for the education of hundreds of new ecommerce entrepreneurs (you may even be here thanks to what you learned in that course).
In Ecommerce Masters, Gretta will be responsible for teaching how to create and scale a brand through the power of influencer marketing, one of her specialties.
Nick Shackelford
Instructor: Scaling With Facebook Ads
Nick Shackelford, co-founder of Structured Social, is a paid media veteran and repeat founder who has specialized in scaling stores through Facebook Ads.
Throughout his career, Nick has spent upwards of $85 million in Facebook Ads across multiple industries. Nick has also been involved in over 150 direct-to-consumer brands to date, such as Ministry of Supply and DIFF Eyewear.
His processes, strategies, and plans have helped multiple companies go from six to seven figures in annual revenue, generating between $10 million to $50 million—in large part from the power of Facebook ads.
He currently operates three businesses that feed into one larger mission of empowering entrepreneurs to build their dreams.
Richard Li
Instructor: Advanced Operations, Manufacturing and Supply Chain
Rich Li is the co-founder of luggage startup July and online furniture retailer, Brosa.
In its first nine months, July has secured $10.5 million in funding and is on track to achieve $5 million in revenue during its first year of operations. Meanwhile, Brosa has become Australia’s biggest online furniture retailer, worth over A$50 million.
Prior to Brosa and July, Rich built his expertise in business strategy, brand development, and ecommerce, as the largest seller to Groupon Group, globally.
Rich is originally from China, and has deep networks across Asia, a mastery of supply chain management, and a finger on the pulse of global consumers.
Chase Dimond
Instructor: Multimillion-Dollar Ecommerce Email Marketing
Chase is currently the co-founder of Boundless Labs, an ecommerce email marketing agency serving seven- and eight-figure clients.
Since launching Boundless Labs in June of 2018, Chase has helped their clients—including The Chive, Ibex, Original Grain, TUSHY and Vinyl Me, Please—send hundreds of millions of emails, resulting in over $20 million in email attributable revenue.
Chase brings a unique and advantageous perspective to email marketing, having experience in almost every aspect of email—ecommerce email marketing, cold email marketing, building and scaling email newsletters, and everything in between. Chase has tons of experience with cold email, in particular, having delivered millions of cold emails into users’ primary inboxes.
Over the years, Chase has helped acquire millions of email subscribers for brands he’s built personally, as well as for his clients’ businesses.
Rob Ward
Instructor: Product Success Formula
Rob Ward is the co-founder of Annex Products, the company behind the Opena Case and Quadlock, one of the leading smartphone bike mount and accessory companies.
Rob has successfully bootstrapped Quadlock from zero to $9 million in revenue in only four years, with over 3 million units sold in over 100 countries. His success with Quadlock helped Rob win the Shopify Build a Business award in 2011.
Ward is an expert in product development and trendspotting. He instructs ecommerce entrepreneurs on how to scale the right way by adding new products and multiple SKUs.
