Celebrating this special occasion wouldn’t be complete without highlighting some of the amazing community members—readers, listeners, forum members, and more—who call Foundr their entrepreneurial home. You guys are passionately pursuing your goals and we couldn’t be prouder!
We’ve narrowed it down to 24 people in our community we’re going to highlight here. But we wanted to extend a huge THANK YOU to the rest of you who were in touch with us as part of our anniversary celebration, not to mention the many thousands who support us and connect with us year round! We have loved every minute of working with all of you over the past five years, and watching our community members become increasingly successful entrepreneurs.

How did you first come across Foundr?
I heard Nathan Chan on a podcast about four years ago and reached out to him. We had a chat, and eventually I became a customer of three or four of his different products. After the Kickstarter I’ve got about 300 of his coffee table books (keeping them until you guys explode and they’re worth more than bitcoin).
What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I started following Foundr while grinding away at a previous startup. I don’t think Nathan was even offering a course at that time. I left that company to start Black Dog Traders (a company that restores vintage Toyota Land Cruisers), which has been an unexpected passion project. I never knew I would enjoy it as much as I do, including all the challenges and complexities that come with it.
What impact has Foundr made on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Since discovering Foundr, I’ve been able to really watch its growth so it’s been inspirational for me. The courses and info that you guys put out are top notch, and really polished, which completely set you apart from most info products out there. I try to emulate a lot of those aspects in my business. So other than the fact that I’ve learned a ton from your products, I have learned a lot just by studying the brand, and how you do things.
My decision to move my company back to Dallas, from Colombia (overseas) was based in part on some of the challenges that Foundr faced in establishing a team and culture with a remote team. I’ve also been inspired by Nathan’s analogy of building a house brick by brick, and not moving into too many spaces until you have the first bricks set and functioning properly.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
We’re looking to change the vehicle restoration space, and make it more like purchasing a new car. All of our vehicles are upgraded to modern performance standards, and come with the same warranty that a new vehicle would (three years 100,000 miles). David Brim (founder of Tomcar) has been a huge inspiration for this. Our plans for 2018 are to bring manufacturing back to Dallas, and shift to more of a manufacturing/production environment using an assembly line, rather than a bespoke restoration shop. This should cut our build times to less than a third of the industry standard, and it’s only the first step. We want to build these in less than a month.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
Our company has scaled enormously in the past year, and I think a lot of the clarity of vision that helped me to do that was from one-on-one coaching sessions I had with Nathan early in 2017. Although I didn’t hit the goals I outlined with him for the year, I know exactly why, and how to overcome those obstacles to make it a great 2018. Around November 2017, I had a one-on-one with David Brim set up by Foundr, which has really helped me to drive a lot of the initiative for 2018 forward. We’re completely changing our method of production thanks in part to David and Nathan.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I have a PR agency and 20 years of experience, and I had the idea to become a PR coach a year ago, so I spent the last year creating my new online PR coaching business. I discovered Foundr in the early stages of that process, and it has helped me in a variety of ways. IG Domination definitely helped me get a stronger Instagram game. Now, I’m thrilled to say that I have my online business up and running with clients from all over the globe that I am guiding in executing their own PR campaigns!
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
It has helped me to see that there are so many other entrepreneurs out there like me, working hard to build businesses, and getting to meet them and exchange ideas, resources and encouragement has been truly amazing.

What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
My theme for this year is growth, as I start moving into automation for my online coaching business. I plan to continue to introduce new programs as I see what people out there are needing from me. It’s a wonderful adventure exploring this whole new online business space, and it really does guide you if you let it. The immediate engagement through social media has helped me learn what people want and how I can best help them.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was sitting on a business idea. Working in the film industry as a set decorator, Foundr inspired me to start my biz! I now have an ecommerce business making and selling cast bronze household hardware.

What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
To grow! And to become more and more successful and fulfilled. To be a top designer, and to find ways to help others.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I started following Foundr a few years ago, back when I was working in the automotive industry in car sales.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
I always look forward to reading new articles or group discussions on the Start & Scale Facebook group, where I have learned a number of things and always feel my opinion is valued. My influencer outreach has also improved thanks to Foundr! I look forward to future tools that will help me grow our social media engagement and influencer partnerships.
With each new piece of content that Foundr puts out, it reinforces the fact that I’m on the right path to creating a better future for myself and others around me. Once you have a taste of entrepreneurship it’s like a fire lit beneath you and you’re always trying to grow that fire with new resources and tools—all of which Foundr provides.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
For me, entrepreneurship has always been in the cards, and now that I have established myself and my businesses, I find it hard to even think about ever going back to a 9-to-5.
The freedom that running ecommerce businesses has provided me is a blessing and I want to be able to teach others how to achieve the same freedom. With all the extra free time, I’ve been working on starting and scaling a number of new brands as well as using those as case studies for people to learn from. I also want to start a nonprofit to bring awareness to mental health issues, with an emphasis on support and prevention for those with eating disorders. This is something very near and dear to my heart as someone very close to me was affected.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
Since enrolling in the Start & Scale course and applying my own ecommerce blueprint, I have co-founded and invested in multiple successful six- and seven-figure brands/businesses. This has given me the opportunity to live the life of my dreams, to travel more, and meet amazing people!

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
Burning out, working in retail for a stingy, emotionally manipulative and immature boss.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
I find inspiration, validation, new ideas, and practical advice I can use and apply on a daily basis. I’ve been inspired by hearing other people’s advice and stories of struggle, failure, and ultimate success. Its magazine features interesting relevant entrepreneurs who have gone against the grain to express their inner creativity and desires. Foundr has been a light in the dark.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
More freedom in creating my own work/life balance. Financial freedom to support my kids’ educations, and to take them to interesting places on holiday. I plan to take better care of myself and my family through working fewer hours, and having better finances, nutrition, and downtime. I now have less anxiety around money, less stress from pressure from a boss, and more motivation to work smarter. I feel happy, I’m learning lots, and loving creating new relationships.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
The world will change in the hands of entrepreneurs!! I want to hear more stories and insightful quotes, advice, and resources. I think the magazine will become a staple coffee table feature in my house!!

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I came across Foundr back in 2015 when I was writing my plans to open my branding agency. I was working as a marketing manager at an engineering firm. I was looking for some tips on how to get started, how to outsource, and how to market my agency. Foundr had so many resources and tips on various topics in business, and I was amazed! Have been a reader since then!
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Foundr helped speed up my transition from employee to business owner and operator by not only providing helpful articles and resources, but building up my confidence in taking the entrepreneurial leap. Reading personal stories and blog posts about other entrepreneurs who had the same questions as I had, and those who had amazing victories, made me feel like anything was possible. I am a lot more organized, spend more time with my family, and I’m overall a lot happier personally and as an entrepreneur.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
I’m excited about the rebrand of my company and the new ventures that will be extensions of my brand. I run a branding agency, and some of the services that are being offered are becoming brands of their own. For my Snapchat geofilter services, I am now offering pre-made and custom filters on my platform called FilterFinesse. For my branded events, we now have an extension called Curate+Fresno that specializes in curated events and experiences. For my branded collateral services, I will be designing premade modern marketing collateral kits and stationary to millennial entrepreneurs on a web platform called Brand Lunch.

What Foundr resources, courses, and products have you used?
The podcasts have been amazing. I’ve done a lot of online courses in the past, but the Start & Scale course has been amazing. It’s by far the best e-course I’ve ever done. Within two weeks, I’d decided on a product, registered a business name, set up a website and Instagram, found local suppliers, and worked out packaging!
What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
Every day I would spend hours wondering, “What should I be doing?”
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
I’m in the early stages, but thanks to Start & Scale, I definitely will be launching my own business this year! Foundr gave me my light bulb moment, and made me realize that my business doesn’t have to be perfect to launch.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
Launching, making my first $100, getting my product out there, then making sure everyone knows about my product! Maybe one day I’ll be in the mag!

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was bouncing around from side-hustle to side-hustle trying to become an “overnight millionaire.” It was so bad I even fell victim to an online scam called “Lawn Chair Millionaire.” You would think someone with a college degree would have known better, but when you’re looking for a shortcut, you will try anything. All I wanted to do is get out of the rat race and the 9-to-5.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Foundr helped show me that it was possible to break out of the mold and build a platform that first provided value, and then enabled you to build a business. To date, I have applied a number of the lessons and have doubled my income twice over the last three years.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
What excites me most about my entrepreneurial future is the ability I have to make an impact in the world. Being an entrepreneur or business owner gives you the means to do more.
I have a mission to help 1,000 entrepreneurs build a million businesses by January 2023.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was working as a singing teacher at home.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
I’ve validated my business concept, grown to over 12,000 followers online. I have added scalability to my music business; I now have several online courses and have increased automation. I have two businesses that are growing, and I feel less stressed because I don’t have to work all hours of the day to get by. And I’m getting ready to launch my first product in April. I’m so excited to launch! It will be awesome.
The Start and Scale course gave me the courage to do this, guiding me through the things I am the most scared about. They have been amazing at encouraging me and pointing me in the direction of people that can help me on my journey.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
There are so many times I have wanted to give up, but the support from Foundr and their members from all over the world has encouraged me to keep going.
Entrepreneurship isn’t easy; that’s why most people don’t do it! As paraphrased from Jerry MacGuire, it’s a “pride-swallowing siege,” but an amazing learning experience as well.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
Here’s my fantastic roller-coaster of a life. I graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s in fashion merchandise. A month after graduation, I fell in to a social media marketing position. Because my degree was not in marketing, I did a lot of research and learning as a went. Through my research, I found Foundr, and since then I’ve enhanced my knowledge of using social media for business and growth. A few months ago, I was let go from that position, and was inspired by your content to start my own marketing agency. I just launched a week ago, so I’m a newbie but I’m grinding.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
I’ve always been a go-getter, but Foundr gets it when it comes to inspiring millennials to be their own boss! Especially when overcoming challenges and adversity. I especially love seeing success stories of current entrepreneurs and learning about their journeys. Thanks for your inspiration!
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
Because I’ve made plans in life and the universe sent me on a different road, I like to go with the flow. In the midst of that, I plan to meet other like-minded Individuals who can propel my career. What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was an ad executive and on-air talent who had left a stable career in broadcast television to design my own destiny as an entrepreneur.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
It has been a “home base.” A place to reconnect when dealing with challenges in business and facing days of uncertainty as your own boss. It’s a network of like-minded individuals who have taken a risk of some sort to do what they love. Seeing other entrepreneurs face similar struggles and knowing that we have a web of connectivity that spans the globe via Foundr is inspiration to just keep going! We aren’t alone on this journey of brand building.
Foundr is also an entrepreneur’s toolbox! As your business develops and your company grows, different tools are required to navigate, and that is where Foundr is so innovative. There are always tools, content, webinars, and insights available to assist as you build your own empire.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
I was recently featured in a diversity campaign for Netflix and plan to continue to expand my network and shape my brand to attract more relevant partnerships and connections of that caliber. I am also a radio personality on B96.9 FM (my entrepreneurial journey landed me a gig behind the mic) and I plan to grow my #HaloEffect show and platform to one day relocate to a larger listener market. It’s the best of both worlds—I get to run my mouth on the radio and run my business simultaneously. Win win!

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I started reading Foundr right before I took my leap of faith from leaving a 19-year career to stepping out on my own, four years ago.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Foundr has provided real life stories and tips, which are very helpful. Pounding the pavement is not easy, and it’s great to read articles about others who were in the same boat, who have crossed over to the other side of the road to be financially successful.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
Right before our first product, I was personally wiped out by Superstorm Sandy (house, car, possessions, office, and inventory). Rather than launching from a positive six-figure position, we launched from a negative six-figure position. Even with no money, we were still able to get our first wellness product, the BodyworksBall, listed in Oprah’s O List, and launched via Brookstone and HSN. We’re still not recovered from the financial loss, but we’re getting ready to launch our next two wellness products, TravelFit and OfficeFit.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
I’d like to be able to share my journey with the Foundr community, to give a different perspective of someone who “appears” to be very successful, but who is still struggling to “make it.” I think it might help others in the struggle.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was swimming in the Sea of Newbie in the digital world! I had left a 15-year corporate career in the investment banking world to launch an online platform for women to learn about money, wealth creation, and creating impact.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
In truth, the biggest impact that Foundr has had on me is providing the inspiration to keep going. When I saw what Nathan was doing and how slick his work was, it gave me the drive to keep hunting when I didn’t know if I could. Foundr is consistent in its message, communication style and brand, relentless in its content creation and ideas. The brand inspires me all the time. I even interviewed Nathan on my podcast, The Virtual Success Show!
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
I’m very excited about unlocking as many businesses as I can from the overwhelm of the never-ending to-do list that plagues us all. I am very passionate about showing people how to run scalable businesses without overwhelm and working long (unnecessary) hours. The knock-on effect of that is to show people how to raise the value of the asset that is their business through being more process-driven and delegating more effectively.

It is simply this—when I am a bit down and out of ideas or want to know how to do something, I go to the Foundr blog and usually find something awesome to get my energy back, get an idea, reignite things.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was stuck in a box, had an uninspiring, standard life plan. I was doing the day-to-day like a sad, broken robot.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
I was inspired by the different founders. Especially Leila Janah’s story! Her purpose of helping lift people out of poverty is inspiring. You often see entrepreneurs’ successes, but not their journeys. Just like them, I went through some serious craziness, from buying into a phony franchise to tanking a few businesses. Reading Foundr religiously helped to pull me up from what felt like rock bottom, and realize it was all part of the journey.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
My goal is to ignite the fire of purpose in 100,000 people during 2018!

It’s so inspirational and has helped me to build my audience online, over social. The advice and posts have been so important to the growth of Thrive. It’s great to hear that the guests on the podcast have all gone through struggles, changed, pivoted, and grown. I love hearing this and it gives me inspiration to grow and continue with my mission.

Foundr has given me insights into the lives of successful entrepreneurs, and their unique skill sets and habits. It’s also given me the motivation to create my own impact on the world. What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
Teaching the world how to Trust Your Hustle (my company name) through strategic execution of their ideas, using entrepreneurship as my vehicle.

I come from a crazy background of being given away by my mom at 3 into foster care, then going into the NFL, becoming a successful serial entrepreneur, and even appearing on American Ninja Warrior on NBC.
I know what it’s like to go from nothing to something, and one of the greatest motivators in my life is watching others do it.
So to watch Foundr go from a small thing to a huge player has been incredibly motivating. It’s just icing on the cake that you guys give me access to the minds of some of the best entrepreneurs on the planet.

What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Foundr has had a major impact on how I grow my company, helping me to leverage Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Most importantly, the productivity systems are fantastic! I can now save hours a day doing tasks compared to how I was doing things before the productivity course. Your influencer course, IG course, and others have provided a better understanding that would have otherwise cost us a lot more to learn. The one cost most people may not realize is the cost of not knowing what to do. This has been alleviated by Foundr.
Foundr has also been a source of inspiration and guidance that I didn’t have before. Instead of hype and filler content, you guys provide access to information no one else offers. Thank you!

The impact Foundr has made upon my professional and personal performance has been revolutionary. On a professional note, Foundr has provided the essential tools and insightful information to create successful results in my social media work. In my personal journey, Foundr’s podcast has been a great source for inspiration from top professionals navigating through life.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
In the near future, I’m excited about releasing my book targeted towards fellow millennials on the power of dreaming, as well as speaking engagements and workshops.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was working at a startup. I loved the company and my job, but I started to think about the future and I realized I wanted more than to work for someone else. When I left my 9-to-5 job, I didn’t really know what exactly I was going to do next, I just knew it was time for the next chapter. I started working independently as an ecommerce specialist and, as the workload became too much, I tweaked my business model and started the Efficiency Hub. It’s a network of digital specialists and a one-stop shop for businesses. Along the way, I checked in with Foundr every now and then and loved how encouraging and informative the videos and articles were.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Nathan was very encouraging that I could do anything I set my mind to. It wasn’t as difficult as it seemed to start my own business. I always wanted to run my own business but he definitely played a role in me starting to think about possibilities I hadn’t considered before.
I find it very inspiring what Nathan has achieved with Foundr. It’s a great resource for business growth tools and strategies and appeals to people who are just starting out as well as the ones who’ve been in the game for a while and just need to refine next steps. It probably also helps that Nathan is an approachable Aussie, who just seems like a nice guy people can relate to.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
I have a very clear vision for the Efficiency Hub and I’m super excited about seeing it come to life. Future plans include co-working spaces, workshops, and a database of resources for businesses of all sizes.

How did you first come across Foundr?
We first spoke to the amazing team online. My sister/business partner was introduced through Gretta Rose van Riel, and then she had the pleasure of meeting Team Foundr at their office.
What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
We weren’t surrounded with enough inspirational, positive, and like-minded people.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Foundr has really helped, with their community of entrepreneurial minds, honest feedback, relating and learning from others experiences, and hopefully helping others with theirs. It’s the little things—the inspirational quotes, the person who tags you on Facebook to ask you something they appreciate your experience in, or to tell you that you’re doing great—it all adds up to a positive and motivating experience.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
Keep building our brand and staying true to ourselves and what we believe in.

What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
We had struggled to engage and to figure out a strategy for growth on social that would grab worldwide attention. We have now established an approach and direction to move forward with a clear strategy for growth.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
We have launched this year a digital adventure platform and in 2018 we are pushing the platform out to targeted countries. Foundr will help us achieve the reach and create an engagement platform to be the most recognized brand for creating adventures, and encouraging everyone to get out and explore.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
Before I began following Foundr, I was looking for a business venture I could do on my own time and from the comfort of my home. I’d been sidelined by multiple chronic illness diagnoses (the main one being Lupus), and unable to work in my previous career in Pharmacy. So pretty much, I was looking for a way to take my financial destiny into my own hands.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
Foundr has given me so many tips, tricks, and tools to be able to run my business more efficiently. Without needing to reinvent the wheel, I am able to see how other entrepreneurs have managed, then tailor their processes to suit my needs.
Foundr features so many amazing entrepreneurs around the world. There is always a wealth of information to pull from, and I’ve been inspired by Foundr to keep going. The path to having a successful business is not a straight one. There are deep valleys, sharp turns, and lots of holes to get stuck in. Reading the stories of entrepreneurial success in Foundr makes me believe I can do it too.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
I am extremely excited about bringing my skin care product line, Fresh Face Botanicals to both national and international markets.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I had just started my startup quest, moving from suits to t-shirts.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
It has helped to provide reassurance that there are so many others out there in similar situations. I have been able to balance personal and professional stress more effectively and have learned from others without having to make mistakes myself.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
What excites me is breaking through my boundaries and seeing each new challenge as a gift (not always easy), so my future self can look back and see that the journey had substance.
The excitement comes from learning you can transcend stress, worry, and other limitations and in doing so follow your own path. And like all things, you never arrive at the end, there is simply another journey—how cool.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
Being that Foundr is from Melbourne, it is so helpful to gain insights and hear from local as well as global entrepreneurs. It makes me proud of a what a hub Melbourne has become for startups.

What were you doing when you discovered Foundr?
I was in the beginning stages of creating a sports beverage line.
What impact has Foundr had on your personal and/or entrepreneurial journey?
When I see Foundr’s posts on Instagram I usually stop and think. I wouldn’t say that the posts motivate me as much as they make me reflect on what I’m doing. This has helped me stay effective when I least expected it. For example, one post said if you focus on quality you will scale, but if you focus on scale, you will lose quality. After reading that post, I hit up my dev team and told them to install hotspot trackers on the site so we can see where people leave and focus on fixing that.
What are you excited about in your entrepreneurial future? What are your plans?
Excited to one day make a real positive impact. Future plans include becoming a major player in the real estate game and succeeding in three or more different industries.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your journey with Foundr?
Nathan responded to an email of mine a while back. Little did I know then I was about to lose all the money I worked so hard to save, but that was part of the process. Years later, I was so absorbed in my business that I didn’t stop for a second to think about anything else until the other day. I saw a Foundr post, and for a quick second I remembered how good that email response made me feel. A successful online publisher took the time out of his day to respond to a 17-year-old entrepreneur. I won’t forget that when I think about who is behind Foundr. Behind all the well developed content, Foundr has a kind, good-hearted team looking to really make an impact. Thank you.
